Anthony Davis Is The Best Player In The NBA (Who Wears A Headband)

Monday night marked the beginning of a new era in Anthony Davis’ illustrious NBA career. He found himself placed in a category that features future Hall Of Famers such Vince Carter, Carmelo Anthony and, at one point, LeBron James. Now, although AD is a new addition to this impressive club, he has already managed to climb his way to the top of the hierarchical ladder. To join this group of athletes, one does not necessarily need to be a HOF caliber player. One doesn’t need to be a  perennial All-Star. Hell, you don’t even need to be the best player on your team! The only requirement needed, is a headband.

Yesterday, on his social media page, Anthony Davis posted a picture that created quite a bit of a commentary, especially within the NBA community. In the picture, Davis is sporting a new look by wearing an NBA branded headband, a style we have not seen from him in the past.

With this new on-court fashion, he joins fellow teammate DeMarcus Cousins and 10x All-Star Carmelo Anthony as the league’s most talented players to wear the elastic band. Davis now joins a storied list of “headbanders” consisting of NBA greats like Wilt Chamberlin, Paul Pierce and Zach Randolph to name a few.

Look, am I trying to argue that this new look of his will in any way affect his on-court game? Of course not!

But, with him finally in this category, one cannot ignore that he is the BEST player currently in it. Coming off of a season in which he averaged 28.0 PPG (4th in NBA), 11.8 RPG (7th in NBA) and 2.2 BPG (2nd in NBA) it was already safe to say the ‘Brow’ was one of the best players in the entire NBA. Now, with his membership into the “headband club”, it’s a no-brainer who’s at the top of the food chain.

While Davis’ talent may not be in question in regards to his new club, the way he looks may be another story. When he took to social media, AD followed up the image with the question “Y’all rocking with the headband?”

It took little to no time before NBA players chimed in with their response to said question. Portland Trailblazers star point guard Damian Lillard responded with “No bra lol” while last seasons MVP Russell Westbrook said “No!!!!!”
