MythBusting “The Rondo Effect”
By Seth Nefsky
In Conclusion…
Though statistical strengths and weaknesses have definitely been magnified with the addition of Rajon Rondo, some of them are not solely his doing.
And even with these statistical increases, which make the team look different, both on the TV and the spreadsheet, pre or post-Rondo, the team has produced similar results. Before Rondo, the team had a record of seven and six. Since Rondo, the team has put up a record of eight and nine. Before Rondo, the Pels net-rating was 1.1. Since Rondo, the Pels net-rating has been -.2. Even in the past nine games, that mark has been .7.
Rondo himself has proved to be a useful player, who despite defending worse than a chair would, has continued to be a terrific playmaker.

It seems like with or without Rondo, the team will stick around .500, with a net-rating near zero. Hopefully, that will be enough to get the Pels into the playoffs.
