A Christmas Wish List For All Five Pelicans Starters

Anthony Davis: Freedom From The Injury Bug
So far this season Davis has been pretty fortunate when it comes to injuries. Aside from a few dings every now and again, Davis sidelining’s have been scarce thus far (*knock on wood). Even with a few disturbing instances, the “Brow” has only missed five contests. And while we can sit back and let out a sigh of relief, as history tells us, Davis is not yet out in the clear.
When playing this season the All-Star ‘Unicorn’ is posting superb numbers. Season averages of 25.7 PPG, 10.6 RPG and 1.9 BPG all indicate Davis is on track for another stellar season. And, if he can stay healthy, he very well could help will this franchise to their first postseason berth in over three years. However, this is in fact a big “if.”
Throughout his career Davis has played more than 70 games only once. Though he has never seen anything TOO major (again *knock on wood) the minor injuries have added up, and have cost the Pelicans wins. We have seen him garner health ailments in many different capacities including concussions, fractures, sprains and contusions to name a few.
Now look, this isn’t to say Davis’ health should be a true concern as he’s played in roughly 80% of all his contests throughout his five-year career. However, Davis’ worth to this team is irreplaceable. No disrespect to the other guys holding roster spots on the team, but without Davis this team goes nowhere. I don’t care how great DeMarcus Cousins has played so far this season. Without Davis, the Pelicans stand no chance against the NBA’s elite.
If he can manage to stay healthy throughout the remainder of this season, NOLA’s playoff chances significantly increase and, if we have Anthony Davis at 100% come playoff time, with this talented roster, the Pelicans could make some serious noise.
However, before we get too ahead of ourselves, lets just hope Davis receives the gift of good health this holiday season.
