A Christmas Wish List For All Five Pelicans Starters

DeMarcus Cousins: Reassurance
DeMarcus Cousins’ play this season has been good…. really good. With season averages of 26.2 PPG, 12.3 RPG, 5.1 APG, 1.5 SPG and 1.5 BPG Boogie has proven to be a “stat-sheet stuffer” in this highly important contract year. He’s made it clear that he has enjoyed his time spent in New Orleans and wants to do nothing other than win wearing the red, white and gold. Through his numbers and work ethic Cousins has made strides towards having his best statistical season of his career. And yet, the trade rumors will not seem dissipate.
Destinations such as Washington and Cleveland have been the most abundant stories as of late. And even with this, Cousins has not let it effect his game for, in the month of December alone, Cousins is averaging 28.6 PPG, 11.8 RPG, 4.4 APG and 1.2 BPG. However, as we have seen time and time again, trade rummers and speculations can take it’s toll on individuals, regardless of how talented they may be.

The gift of reassurance in this situation can work in both Cousins and New Orleans’ favor. If New Orleans puts these rumors to rest, it could subsequently impact Boogie in a positive light. By them reassuring him they want him on their team, Cousins could feel more enticed to work hard, thus help lead this team to their first playoff appearance since 2014. If they can muster the strength to reach the postseason, the decision for Cousins to resign with the franchise come June becomes a whole lot easier. Cousins has made it abundantly clear he believes the partnership between him and Anthony Davis can be quite successful and, the way they’ve been playing this season, it appears he may be right.
"“Of course, it’s going to come off as a weird thing with the whole ‘small-ball’ era, but I think we have a chance to make some noise with it.” -DeMarcus Cousins on his front-court partnership with Anthony Davis"
This team certainly has potential to make noise come April. It all depends on a few factors. However, if these five starters make this wish list a reality, success shoud be much easier to come by.
