The Pelicans desperately need another big man with DeMarcus Cousins out for the season. They simply cannot go on with Omer Asik, a young inexperienced Cheick Diallo, and an injured Alexis Ajinca being the only true big fellas rostered. Greg Monroe would help balance out the rotations again and make life much easier for coach Alvin Gentry.

It may make life easier for General Manager Dell Demps as well. The Pelicans could additionally use another solid wing player, but their market search had to unfortunately shift due to Cousins’ injury. Instead of packing their first-round pick in deals to acquire more front-court help, NOLA could theoretically start searching for a wing once Monroe is signed.

Bourbon Street Shots own Micheal McNamara has already done some work for those of you intrigued.

Whether they were to stay pat or continue being aggressive in the market, NOLA would have options. And “options” is not a word most Pelicans fans have been used to for some time.
