Anthony Davis: B+

NEW ORLEANS, LA – FEBRUARY 26: Anthony Davis
NEW ORLEANS, LA – FEBRUARY 26: Anthony Davis /

Calm down. ‘B+’ is a perfectly respectable grade and remember, these marks are based off of performance in comparison to oneself. Davis has obviously always had this in him.

Despite higher points per game, Davis earns just a ‘B+’ grade, due to his shooting efficiency, which has not been nearly as good as his last terms. His field goal percentage has drifted to below 50% this term, and his true shooting is 58.2%, compared to his 64.3% of the last two.

He has fallen into some of his old shooting habits, taking 28.9% of his shots from mid-range, which has decreased his field goal percentage.

The Pelicans have actually been playing better on defense with Davis off of the floor too, but Davis’ personal defensive numbers have been even more terrific than usual. Therefore, his defensive impact is unclear.

With Cousins gone, Davis is the clear alpha on this team, giving him more offensive opportunity. Though he has played well, hopefully he shoots the ball at a better percentage in the season’s final quarter.
