This free agency period, the New Orleans Pelicans will have their work cut out for them. Possibly their biggest task of the summer is figuring out exactly what to do about unrestricted free agent DeMarcus Cousins.

Sunday, the NBA’s free agency period will officially commence. With this, players on the open market will have the opportunity to choose where they wish to bring their talents. One of this years biggest and most intriguing free agent’s is New Orleans Pelicans All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins.

In late January, the 27-year-old ruptured his left achilles tendon which, inevitably, put an end to his stellar season. Cousins finished the year averaging 25.2 PPG, 12.9 RPG, 5.0 APG, 1.6 SPG and 1.6 BPG. While these statistics alone should warrant max-contract consideration for the four time All-Star, the severity of his injury may cause teams to grow weary of offering such a deal; this includes the likes of New Orleans.

There are many reasons why Boogie may decide to re-up with the Pelicans. On the contrary, there are many reasons as to why he could potentially seek greener pastures. Enclosed in the proceeding slides we’ve compiled three reasons why DeMarcus Cousins may or may not be a member of the New Orleans Pelicans for the 2018-19 NBA season.
