Friendship With Anthony Davis

Since Boogie’s arrival in New Orleans, Anthony Davis has been nothing but supportive. Many star players would be intimidated of having another talented player of similar position come aboard. Instead, Davis has done nothing but embrace it.

Before his arrival in NOLA, Cousins and Davis were already friends. They’d gotten to know each other through the years during the leagues annual All-Star game, where they’ve been teammates four times. Once they were blessed with an offseason to work on their chemistry on the hardwood as Pelicans teammates, they immediately jumped at the opportunity.

During the 2017-18 season, Cousins and Davis went 24-18 when together in the lineup. They outscored opponents by nearly five points per 100 possessions and guided their team to the third seed out West. Together, they were making skeptics believe a teams two best players could in fact be big men.

Quite possibly the best part of all this – they were having fun. On-court chemistry is important to have for a winning franchise. However, coupling that with personal chemistry is a recipe for success. A team that gets along with one another is a special thing. Say Cousins decides to sign elsewhere this offseason. He may never get the relationship with a teammate that he currently has with Anthony Davis.

Could their bond be strong enough to keep Cousins in a Pelicans jersey?
