New Orleans Pelicans star forward Anthony Davis is reportedly looking for a new agent after parting ways with long time agent Thad Foucher.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne are reporting that Anthony Davis and his agent Thad Foucher are parting ways. Foucher, who is a New Orleans native, has been Davis’ agent since he entered the league in 2012. Foucher is also the agent of New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday and Oklahoma City star Russell Westbrook.

That same report claims that Klutch Sports’ own Rich Paul, who also represents Los Angeles Lakers megastar LeBron James, is the front-runner to land agent services for Anthony Davis. Davis currently has two years and $52 million left on his contract. He also has a player option for the 2020-2021 season.

There has yet to be an official announcement from Davis or his camp. League rules states that a player must wait 15 days after filing paperwork with the National Basketball Association before the change can become official. It is unclear exactly when the paperwork was filed requesting this change.

This should definitely be a cause for concern with Pelicans fans moving forward. Having a New Orleans native like Foucher no longer in Davis’ ear when new contract negotiations start may have Davis looking elsewhere. This is especially true if the Pelicans cannot match or exceed the mark they set last year by winning 48 games and advancing to the second round of the playoffs.

Adding more fuel to the fire is the L.A. connection here. It is reported that Davis recently bought a mansion right outside of Los Angeles. We also know the player/GM LeBron James is. If it’s true that Klutch Sports is the agency Davis is signing with, then we know LeBron will do everything in his power to convince AD to head further West and play for the purple and gold.

If the Pelicans can’t keep any sustained success around Davis, then can anyone fault him for leaving? At 25 years old, Davis knows he is entering the prime of his career. Would he dare waste that playing for a middle of the pack team that up to this point, has not put a team around him? Only time will tell how this movie plays out. Hopefully, it’s not one that is filmed in Hollywood.
