5 teams New Orleans Pelicans could trade Jrue Holiday to
Option 1: Los Angeles Clippers
This trade is really just for the Pelicans to acquire Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the rookie point guard out of the University of Kentucky. Shai has looked very solid in his first season, is getting plenty of minutes to keep improving, and was recently selected to the Rising Stars Game during All-Star Weekend. By all accounts, he looks to be excellent going forward and could be the point guard of the future for the Pelicans.
Gortat’s contract is expiring, and the recently disappointing Avery Bradley only has one more season left on his contract, which isn’t a big deal to take on. The Pelicans also score a first rounder next season in this hypothetical and hope the Clippers fall behind in the crowded Western Conference next year to maximize the value of this pick.
The Clippers, on the other hand, gain a near all-star level guard to try to convince Tobias Harris to stick around this summer in free agency and build a roster around those two.
