#30. Milwaukee Bucks: Ty Jerome, G
School: Virginia | Class: Junior | Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 195 | Age: 21
Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks finished (surprisingly to some) with the best record in the NBA this season, which earned them the rights to the final selection in the 2019 NBA Draft. Going into the summer, the Bucks do have some question marks with players like Khris Middleton, Malcolm Brogdon, Brook Lopez, and Nikola Mirotic entering free agency.
If they’re already internally planning on letting a young point guard like Malcolm Brogdon walk in restricted free agency in order to still have the cap room available to keep the biggest pieces of their core together, Ty Jerome out of the University of Virginia could be a name that they look at to close out the the first round of the draft.
Ty Jerome was a big reason why he and De’Andre Hunter were able to lead the Virginia Cavaliers to an NCAA title this season. In addition to being an NCAA champion, he’s also been selected to two All-ACC teams. He can shoot from anywhere, create for others, rebounds well for his size, and plays that hard-nosed style of Virginia defense that helped lead them to victory over every other team in college basketball this season.
He’s already 21 years old, but Jerome can come onto a team and have an immediate impact. This is exactly the type of player Milwaukee will be looking for to close out the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft.
A lot can change from now till the actual NBA Draft once the draft lottery plays out, teams have players come in for private workouts, GMs get a better feel for who will still be on their rosters, and so on. However, it’s never too early to look closer at an NBA Draft class to try to figure out who will be going where. For the New Orleans Pelicans and everyone else, there’s always that one guy out there that could make all the difference for your organization. You just have to find him and get to him first.
