#3. Phoenix Suns: Ja Morant, G

School: Murray State | Class: Sophomore | Height: 6’3″ | Weight: 170 | Age: 19

Despite once having Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe, and Isaiah Thomas on their roster as promising, young point guards, the Phoenix Suns have found themselves very weak at the floor general position as of late. Instead of maybe keeping at least one of these aforementioned guards, the Suns got rid of them all.

They’ve been scrambling to find someone new ever since and have had to resort to playing Devin Booker slightly out of position this season to take on the ball handling duties.

Ja Morant out of Murray State was high on many drafts boards earlier in the year, but he rocketed up to the Top 3 thanks in large part to his coming out party on the national stage during his team’s tournament run in March Madness.

Morant has an extra year of experience under his belt as a sophomore, and he really used this second year of college to hone his craft. Ja upped his points per game from 12.7 to 24.5 and also increased his assists from 6.3 to an insane 10 per game. He’s a fantastic scorer and facilitator that will more than likely continue seeing a lot of success at the next level.

This would be the pick that finally gets the Suns a point guard they can plan to build around. Morant, Booker, and last year’s #1 pick Deandre Ayton would give Phoenix fans plenty to be excited about for years.
