#6. Washington Wizards: Coby White, G

School: North Carolina | Class: Freshman | Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 185 | Age: 19

Few names have risen as many spaces on the draft boards this year as North Carolina’s Coby White. On a team with plenty of established talent (and other names we’ll see later on in this mock draft), White rose to the challenge and solidified his case for being the most intriguing Tarheel in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The Washington Wizards were a team going into 2018 that was expected by many to be destined for the Eastern Conference playoffs. However, major injuries to perennial all-star point guard John Wall and some internal drama caused this season to get out of hand for the Wiz. The guard spot might not seem like their biggest need with Wall returning eventually and Bradley Beal at the 2, but this is a team that could pull the trigger on a rebuild any minute now.

If the Wizards rebuild, Coby White is the perfect candidate to get tons of minutes at the point guard position to hopefully develop into their new dynamic ball handler of the future. He’ll likely get picked up by someone in the Top 10, so slotting him at #6 to Washington could be just about right.
