Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder are a team that might need to shake things up a little bit to really take the next step in the Western Conference. They now have two full seasons of the Russell Westbrook/Paul George pairing under their belts, and yet they’re still currently losing their opening round playoff series to the (very good) Portland Trail Blazers.

OKC has a lot of money tied up in Westbrook and PG for a long time, and they clearly don’t want to waste the primes of these players’ careers. Adding a name like Anthony Davis alongside these other two would create one of the most ridiculous “Big Three” lineups ever. However, the tradeable pieces they have on the team outside of their two superstars probably aren’t going to cut it.

Let’s assume Russ and PG are untouchable (because they probably are). The next best player OKC has is center Steven Adams. To be fair, Adams is truly fantastic. He’s probably one of the top 5 centers in the league even if he isn’t often talked about that way. However, Adams’ game is not dynamic enough to be the player a team builds around. He’d be great with Jrue Holiday, but the Pelicans need to get a potential star back for AD, and Adams is not that.

OKC’s draft pick is #21 in round one, which is nothing special.  Dennis Schroder and the oft-injured Andre Roberson probably don’t interest David Griffin, nor do many of the other young guys on this Thunder roster. Sorry, Oklahoma City.
