#26 Detroit Pistons

The Pistons have a couple of top 25 players in the league, and it would make sense to possibly package one of them in a trade offer to try to win the Anthony Davis Sweepstakes if AD had a year or two more on his current contract.

As it stands, parting with either Blake Griffin or Andre Drummond in order to acquire Davis probably wouldn’t be the smartest move for a team in a market like Detroit. Motor City isn’t exactly a glamorous location for a superstar that seems to want to grow his personal brand in a major market, so the Pistons would have many reservations about potentially mortgaging their future for one year of an Anthony Davis rental.

Detroit would likely want to keep Griffin to pair with AD and opt to package the 25 year old rebounding machine Andre Drummond with some young players like Luke Kennard and Thon Maker. However, the Pistons don’t have a pick in the lottery, so they’d have to include many future draft assets to try to sway the Pelicans.

It’s not a terrible offer, but it’s not likely one that even gets placed on the table. The Pelicans will get better offers, and the Pistons won’t want to take the risk.
