29 teams ranked from least to most likely to trade for Anthony Davis
#25 Indiana Pacers
In truth, the Indiana Pacers actually could put together a very respectable offer for Anthony Davis’ services. Young, exciting big men in Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis would lessen the blow of losing AD in New Orleans. Either or both of these guys could step in and instantly get heavy minutes for the Pelicans and make sure they’re competitive night in and night out.
Aaron Holiday could be included in a deal as well, which would be an amazing PR move pairing the rookie point guard in the backcourt with his older brother, Jrue. The Pelicans could even go for the Holiday trifecta and sign Justin in free agency just to have all three brothers under one roof.
But the Pacers have too recently been scorned by a disgruntled superstar themselves (looking at you, Paul George). If anyone understands the difficulties of being located in a small market, it’s Indiana. They will not take the risk to trade for a guy like AD that will more likely than not leave the next summer anyway. President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard loves continuity on his rosters, and selling the farm for this much uncertainty isn’t something he’d do.
The prospect of a healthy Victor Oladipo playing alongside Anthony Davis is an exciting one, but not one anyone should actually expect to happen.
