Pelicans Rumors: Top 5 New York Knicks assets in an Anthony Davis trade
By Nolan Jensen
#5) Mitchell Robinson
Mitchell Robinson showed tremendous upside as a rim protector in his rookie campaign for the New York Knicks last season. The former second-round draft pick in 2018 finished second in the league in blocks with 2.4 per game.
Robinson’s production earned him more minutes as the season progressed; and with an extended role, his game elevated. For April, with 31.7 minutes per game, Robinson nearly compiled a double-double average with 11.3 points and 9.7 rebounds.
His game is not polished quite yet; he still has a lot of developing to do. He’s solely a raw, athletic, shot blocker at this point in his career. He does not have a jump shot, which has become all but mandatory for big men in today’s game. He shot 69.4 percent from the field, but that can be attributed to open dunks and layups.
If he does incorporate a jump shot into his offensive portfolio, he could be scary. Standing in at 7’1 and 240 pounds, Robinson moves well for his size and has no shortage of athleticism. Now if he was to combine that in with a steady jump shot, his offensive dynamic could create issues for opposing defenses.
Robinson is 21-years-old and has already begun to make noise in the NBA. Under the right system, and with his individual development, he could become a force.
