2019 NBA Draft: Full Mock Draft 2.0 – Pelicans take Zion; who goes next?
#14. Boston Celtics (Via Sacramento Kings): Bol Bol, C
School: Oregon | Class: Freshman | Height: 7’2″ | Weight: 222 | Age: 19
The other top center in the draft, Bol Bol is a unicorn. 21 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, and a good 56.1 field goal percentage in 9 games played were amazing numbers before a left foot injury robbed him of the rest of his season. Imagine what a full collegiate season would have shown us, as Bol was thought to be a top 5 prospect before suffering his injury.
The Celtics could use a guard here as they prepare for a potential Kyrie departure, but Aron Barnes and Al Horford also aren’t getting any younger and they need a big, physical presence in the post that can contest other big men like Jarrett Allen, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid.
Bol might not be the flashiest move the Celtics could make, but it would be the best move they could make to secure the center position for years to come. This seems to be about as low as Bol Bol falls in most projections, so don’t expect him to slip any further that Boston’s pick here at #14.
