#4) Montrezl Harrell

Harrell is coming off a career year with the Clippers that saw him average 16.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks on an insanely effective 62% from the field. By all accounts, a very impressive stat line. But his fit within the Pelicans dynamic is a little tricky, to say the least.

The Pelicans finished the 2018/19 season first in the NBA in points in the paint (via teamrankings.com). A statistic that would have been amazing 15 years ago, but has become seemingly more and more obsolete as the three-point revolution carries on in the NBA.

Harrell does the body of his work in the paint. He uses “bully ball” like tactics to overpower the opposition in the interior. Remind you of a certain Pelican? He just concluded his 4th NBA season and is still yet to convert on his first three-point field goal. However, he’s still very effective at what he does and his defensive identity would be welcoming.

If Randle does opt out on his player option, acquiring Harrell would soften the blow. He’s incredible in the pick and roll, but half the credit for that does go to Lou Williams. What makes Harrell stand out is his motor. He’s a high energy type of player that plays with infectious passion on both ends of the court. This would be a very nice asset in return for Davis.
