Coby White, G, North Carolina

A walking, talking bucket at UNC, Coby White could shoot it from just about anywhere. The All-ACC freshman held a stat line of 16/3/4 on 42.3% shooting, which shows his ability to score. He would also pair very well alongside Jrue Holiday by either moving White or Holiday to the two guard spot. Coby is a natural point guard, which Jrue would be appreciate if he continues to desire to play off the ball.

White’s ability to score from 3 levels and drive the ball will prove valuable, though there is legitimate concern over his size and length. However, I think playing alongside Zion would be a great pairing, just like Jarrett Culver. It just depends on who you ask, as Coby’s draft stock seems to typically fall anywhere for Top 5 to the teens.

Several teams could ultimately send the Pelicans a high enough pick in exchange for AD if New Orleans wants to select Coby White. Teams like the Suns, Bulls, and Hawks could all be in play and hold the rights to Top 10 picks. He isn’t as flashy of a name as Jarrett Culver’s, but his natural fit in the backcourt with Jrue might actually make more sense for the Pelicans.
