#1) Jamal Murray

Before I get started on Murray’s value and why I think he should be the cornerstone of any hypothetical trades between the two organizations, he has one glaring problem that needs addressing: consistency. Murray can go for 40 on any given night, but he can also go for 7 on 2/13 from the field as well.

That inconsistency can be attributed to age, he’s still only 22-years-old. Surprisingly, not a lot of players are finished products at that age. Okay, now let’s get to the good. Murray is coming off a career year for the Nuggets, averaging 18.7 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.2 rebounds on 44% from the field and 37 percent from three.

His playmaking abilities are progressing with every passing season and with the ability to score the ball with ease, he has an intriguing offensive dynamic. He could provide a solid backcourt with the likes of Jrue Holiday. One of Holiday’s best attributes is there’s really no incorrect fits with him, but both parties could thrive in this instance.

Holiday’s ability to defend any guard in the league, with Murray’s aforementioned offensive skillset is very appealing. As we mentioned, Murray still has a long way to go in the maturation process but is already a very good NBA player.

He’s proven he can ball on the biggest stages as well. In Game 4 of the second round against the Trailblazers—with the Nuggets down 2-1 in the series—he delivered 34 points on 50 percent from the field including 5 rebounds and 4 assists to tie up the series. In review, any hypothetical trade surrounding the teams in the AD sweepstakes needs to include Jamal Murray. He’s quickly emerging as a premier guard in the NBA and is still multiple years away from entering his prime.
