With the NBA Finals in full swing, let’s check both Golden State and Toronto’s rosters for upcoming free agents the New Orleans Pelicans could look to target.

If the New Orleans Pelicans would like to be competitive sooner rather than later, looking to make some key acquisitions in free agency this summer could go a long way. Players with playoff experience are always a big help to a roster, so going after some guys that are currently playing in the NBA Finals might be a wise move for the Pelicans.

Any player with a championship pedigree or, at the very least, NBA Finals experience can add an important sense of leadership to a locker room. Even players off of the bench can bring tons of useful experience and knowledge to a team that’s never made it to the NBA Finals, such as the New Orleans Pelicans.

While players like Jrue Holiday have already gotten a decent amount of playing time in the postseason, a rebuilding roster like the one the Pelicans will likely have in 2019-2020 needs multiple players on the payroll to set a good example of what it takes to be a winner in the NBA for the young guys coming aboard.

Guys like Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard are free agents, but there’s a 99.9% chance they don’t give the New Orleans Pelicans the time of day in free agency. Already counting those guys out, who are some other players from the NBA Finals that the Pels could find some use for? Let’s take a look at a flier, a role player, and a star from the Warriors and Raptors that New Orleans should look to sign.
