David West became a cornerstone for the Hornets during his tenure alongside Chris Paul, P.J. Brown and other big names.

West was taken as the No. 18 overall selection in the 2003 NBA Draft out of Xavier University. He played sparingly during his first two seasons but in his third season, he took a turn as a full-time starter.

He started in a career-high 74 contests during the 2005-06 NBA season, putting up 17.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The Hornets went 38-44 after going 18-64 in the season prior.

It didn’t take West long to become a lethal combination alongside Paul in the pick-and-roll game. He put up a career-best 34 points against the Orlando Magic on Nov. 19, 2005. In a separate game, he snagged a career-best 18 rebound against the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 23, 2005.

West made the only two All-Star appearances of his NBA career with the Hornets in 2008 and 2009. He set career marks in points with 44 during the 2009-10 NBA season and rebounds with 20 during the 2008-09 campaign.

When his contract ended after the 2010-11 NBA season, he joined the Indiana Pacers as a free agent. He joined the San Antonio Spurs in 2015-16 and won two NBA titles with the Golden State Warriors before retiring after the 2017-18 NBA season.
