Hassan Whiteside: Miami Heat, Player Option
After being considered a crucial young piece in the Miami Heat’s rebuild after the LeBron era, Hassan Whiteside has taken a bit of a fall from grace. Whiteside averaged 12/11/0.8 on 57.1% shooting from the field and 12.5% from the three point line.
Whiteside is coming off a hip injury that moved him from being the starting big for the Heat to the bench. This was unusual for him in recent years, as he only started 53 games out of 72 played. Whiteside would definitely get the playing time he wants by making a move to the New Orleans Pelicans, but is he willing to give up a $27 million dollar option to try and reset his career?
He would be worth taking a look at if available. He is a former NBA rebound leader (2016-17) and block leader (2015-16) that would solve a lot of defensive questions the New Orleans Pelicans could have in the low post and paint.
