2019 NBA Draft: Mock Draft 3.0 – Who do Pelicans take with Lakers’ pick?
11. Minnesota Timberwolves – PJ Washington, Kentucky, PF
Depending on matchups, PJ Washington could play and guard any position 3-5 in the NBA. This will be very useful for a team like the Timberwolves who have so many weird fits and questionable contracts on their roster. They’ll likely never stop trying to ship away Andrew Wiggins‘ deal, and PJ could be his replacement. As long as Wiggins is on contract, Washington can fit nicely next to Karl-Anthony Towns in the frontcourt.
12. Charlotte Hornets – Sekou Doumbouya, Limoges CSP, SF/PF
The Hornets have gotten themselves into cap space hell and have had a string of disappointing seasons for a while now. The question marks around Kemba Walker‘s free agency have fans in panic mode, because their roster will look very scary without him. Sekou Doumbouya from France is a raw project. He’ll likely be the youngest player to get selected in the 2019 NBA Draft, so he’s not a guy that will help you win next season. In a couple years though, this could be the best player on Charlotte’s roster.
13. Miami Heat – Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Virginia Tech, SG
Alexander-Walker feels like one of the safest bets in the draft to at least be solid and playable at the next level. He’ll be a hard working, grind it out type of guard in Miami. He’s not the heir apparent to Dwyane Wade, but he can step onto the team and give meaningful minutes right away.
14. Boston Celtics (Via Kings) – Bol Bol, Oregon, C
With Kyrie Irving probably leaving for Brooklyn and now Al Horford opting to test the free agent market, the Celtics seems to be entering a re-tooling period. At this point, it makes the most sense to go young and give Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as many high upside guys to grow with as possible. Bol Bol has a lot of questions around him, but he’s an amazing shooter and can be a truly terrifying stretch-5 in the NBA if development goes according to plan.
15. Detroit Pistons – Romeo Langford, Indiana, SG
Romeo Langford had a disappointing freshman season at Indiana University by most metrics. He shot the ball terribly, but also was dealing with a nagging wrist injury for a while. Still, there were good reasons why he was so hyped out of high school. He’s very good at getting to the hoop, and he has the tools to be a good playmaker. Detroit needs help at the guard position, so Langford is worth the gamble.
