New Orleans Pelicans: 5 veteran free agents worth targeting
By Nolan Jensen
#3) Brook Lopez
Brook Lopez represents what the prototypical center looks like in 2019; a complete revamp of his offensive approach can be thanked for that. In his rookie season, Lopez attempted 52.0 percent of his field goals within 0-3 feet. This past season, however, he only attempted 17.3 percent of his field goals from that distance.
He didn’t make a three-point field goal until his 7th season in the league, he connected on 187 this past season—the league has changed. His altered approach did not go unnoticed and expect a plethora of teams interested in his services, one of which should be the Pelicans.
Oh, and he finished third in the NBA in total blocks, with 179. He shoots the three and protects the rim, yeah I’m rather fond of him. And if the game slows down, his previous life as a dominant big man in the low block is still an avenue offensively.
In the contract negotiations get Brandon Ingram to apologize for this and we should be fine.
