#2) Vince Carter

Well, I’m sure this one will go over nicely with critics. Yes, I am saying the Pelicans should sign a 42-year-old Vince Carter, but hear me out, there’s a method to my madness. The point of this article is to find veteran talent that can significantly contribute and provide leadership in the locker room. Carter may only be able to accomplish the latter, but he could go above and beyond in that role.

What better player in the NBA right now could provide more wisdom and insight on the game than Vince Carter? The man is going to be entering his fourth decade in the league as a player! Yes, you read that correctly.

It’s also noteworthy that he connected on 1.6 three-point field goals per game last season for the Hawks, which is equivalent to 123 threes—Darius Miller led the team last year with 133. As I mentioned before, they need shooting in a bad way.

He can also play some stretch four, as he played 56% of his minutes at the power forward position in 2018/19. But that’s not what he would be there for. Listen, Carter has made his fair share of errors throughout his career, he was once upon a time a franchise cornerstone and knows the responsibility and pressures that come with it.

He’d be the perfect mentor for Zion Williamson, and for a few million dollars it might be worth it. Plus, Carter and Gentry have a history—be it brief—when he played under the coach in Phoenix. I refuse to stray away from my stance, bring Vincanity to the Big Easy!
