4 forwards the New Orleans Pelicans should target in NBA free agency
By Cody Taylor
Tobias Harris, Philadelphia 76ers, Unrestricted Free Agent
Tobias Harris enjoyed a good year between the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers with a scoreline of 20/7/2 on 48.7% shooting from the field and a career-high 39.7% from beyond the three-point line.
Harris has been a very solid player throughout his career, only averaging under 10 points per game his rookie season (5 PPG in 42 games) and has been well traveled in the NBA. If he doesn’t re-sign with the 76ers, he will be on his 5th team since 2016. Never really finding a landing spot, Harris could be a very intriguing option for the New Orleans Pelicans.
With Julius Randle opting out of his contract, Harris could fill the hole in production that the Pelicans are losing from his departure (Randle averaged 21/8/3), and Harris even a better three-point shot. As it was stated about Harrison Barnes, Tobias Harris could be looking for a max deal, and I still don’t know how willing the New Orleans Pelicans would be to sink that much money into one player with this new young core in place. But if they feel he would be better suited for starting at the 3 over Brandon Ingram, it could be worth the shot.
NBA free agency begins in the evening of June 30th, so we don’t have to wait too much longer to see how the New Orleans Pelicans decide to round out their roster this summer.
