The New Orleans Pelicans’ roster just went through another shake-up. Which begs the question, which players should start?

The New Orleans Pelicans’ roster has drastically altered in the past month. They possess a young core with no shortage of potential and now have added in the likes of Derrick Favors and J.J. Redick in free agency. It’s noteworthy that their still may be moves made, but as of right now what should the starting lineup look like?

Well, that’s a little tricky, opinions will differ. With a roster that consists of Jrue Holiday, Zion Williamson, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Derrick Favors, J.J. Redick, and Jaxson Hayes (amongst others), it’s not necessarily easy to decide which five should be on the court for the opening tip-off.

Alvin Gentry is tasked with finding a rotation that fits, a plaguing issue for many coaches in the NBA. It very well could change as the season progresses, a lot can happen in the span of 82 regular season games.

You have to take into consideration factors like chemistry, floor spacing, defensive matchups, you may have to stagger certain players’ minutes—it can be a giant headache. What definitely needs to change is that the Pelicans were amongst the cellar dwellers in terms of team defense and three-point shooting last season.

If they are to have any success this season, those wrongs have to be undone. They have the players to ensure a turnaround in those regards, but who should be on the court at the beginning of the game to set the tone on both ends? Well, let’s take a look at personnel and try and figure this thing out.
