New Orleans Pelicans: Looking at 5 rivals the team could have in the Zion era

Dallas Mavericks
Another division foe that has a bright future, the Dallas Mavericks could prove a thorn in the side for the New Orleans Pelicans moving forward.
With Rookie of the Year winner, Luka Doncic, and a 7’4 power forward that can knock down threes and put the ball on the deck in Kristaps Porzingis—both of whom are under the age of 24—their potential should have funs electrified.
It’s noteworthy we don’t exactly know how Porzingis is going to be physically coming back from a horrid ACL tear back in February 2018, but if it’s anywhere near where he was at—watch out for the Mavericks.
They didn’t make any significant transactions this free agency period despite entering in with money to spend, but they also re-signed their key rotational pieces to surround Doncic and Porzingis with.
With time to grow and two of the NBA’s brightest young stars, the Mavericks have a bright future, one that could possibly intertwine with the Pelicans’.
