March will be the busiest month for the New Orleans Pelicans. Their roster depth will be tested just as players’ legs begin to really get tired.

The New Orleans Pelicans play more games in March than any other month. The talent on the bench will be tested. Should the newly signed recruits fail to keep the team’s playoff chances afloat, some fans may question David Griffin’s moves.

The Timberwolves (March 1) and the Lakers (March 3) come to the Smoothie King Center to open the NBA version of March Madness. March 4, the Pelicans again visit the Dallas Mavericks. The Lakers will be playing for a title all season. Should Minnesota, Dallas, and New Orleans have a chance at a lower seed, these games will be crucial to any tiebreaker scenarios.

Friday, March 6 the Pelicans play the Miami Heat in New Orleans. Then the team begins another Western Conference four-game road trip. The Pelicans stop at Minnesota (8th), Sacramento (11th), Utah (13th), and then Los Angeles (14th) to face the Clippers.

That is possibly the crucible of the season. Should the Pelicans survive that gauntlet with a couple of wins, they’ll be in good shape for the stretch run.

City rival Atlanta visits New Orleans on March 16 followed by divisional rival San Antonio on March 18. Any New Orleans team will always prioritize beating a squad repping Atlanta. it’s been that way since the cities existed. New Orleans hopes to mimic the Spurs championship culture along the way.

New Orleans travels back to Memphis (21st) before settling in for a three-game homestand. Sacramento (22nd), Memphis (24th), and New York (27th) will all be visiting the Smoothie King Center.

The New Orleans Pelicans close the month starting a four-game road trip. They first travel to face the Orlando Magic (29th) and Atlanta Hawks (31st). Before starting next month in Washington D.C.
