Los Angeles Round 2 and it’ll be the tougher of the two. While the New Orleans Pelicans might boast the best defensive backcourt in the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers might possess the best defensive team in the NBA.
With 5-time All-Defense and 2-time Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard, 4-time All-Defense Paul George, and 2-time All-Defense Patrick Beverly this might be one of the best defensive units in NBA history.
And the veterans will have to step up and help these young players compete against the presumed NBA title favorites. When you go up against the 2019 NBA Finals MVP, a rejuvenated Paul George, and a Clippers franchise who has never been held to these levels of standards and expectations you better come prepared.
With two early-season tilts in November, the New Orleans Pelicans and their fans will get a treat to see where we stack up against the best team, on paper, in the NBA. Measuring up Zion Williamson against Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will be a great way to kick off Zion’s rookie season and see where his growth might have to come from.
While it might not have the emotional weight of the Los Angeles Lakers series, the gravity of the matchup will hold a lot of season implications for how well both teams will fair during the 2019-20 season.
