Nicolo Melli: Mysterious

In 2019, nobody really stays a mystery anymore. A web search of “Nicolo Melli highlights” returns 32,000 results. Still, he’s a relative unknown to the casual NBA fan, and it can be hard to predict how a European post’s game will transfer to the NBA.

Still, he offers a blend of size and shooting ability that should make him indispensable in the frontcourt rotation this year. He might be a mystery now, but if he delivers the way the Pelicans think that he can, he won’t stay that way for long.

Darius Miller: Disappointing

Disappointing doesn’t have anything to do with Darius Miller himself; what’s disappointing is the timing of the ruptured achilles that he just suffered, which at the very least will keep him out of NBA action for the overwhelming majority of next season.

Miller has worked hard on keeping himself a rotation-level player in the league, and he’s worked even harder every year to add more to his game. Basketball fans in New Orleans will be disappointed not to have him on the court.
