Pelicans @ Memphis Grizzlies: No. 1 vs. No. 2

The Pelicans travel to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies on January 20th in the first matchup between number one and two overall picks in the 201 draft, Zion Williamson and Ja Morant. Morant, much of an unknown up until his breakout college campaign last season, averaged an outstanding 24.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 10.0 assists for the Murray State Racers. He also did this on 49.9% from the field. Morant led the Racers to an NCAA Tournament victory over Marquette however could not advance past the round of 32. Morant was selected second overall by Memphis in hopes of replacing former franchise Point Guard, Mike Conley. Zion and Morant played AAU basketball together back in the Carolinas and have remained in touch over the years, so it should be special to see these two matchup on an NBA floor. The Pelicans and Grizzlies were also two of the least valuable teams in the NBA last season, so landing these franchise changing players will help tremendously in terms of bringing a market back to these loyal cities. January 20th will be fireworks and the two will also face off on January 31st and March 20th.
