Facing off against the Joker and his Nuggets on Halloween night, the New Orleans Pelicans are looking to avoid an even spookier start to the season.

Guess what, it’s Halloween basketball! Tonight, it’ll be up to the New Orleans Pelicans to deliver their fans their first treat of the season or leave them hoping the team has at least a few tricks up their sleeve to curb their 0-4 start.

Tonight’s game is set for an 8:30 p.m. CT tip-off from the Smoothie King Center, as Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets roll into the Big Easy.

Returning to the lineup after missing two games is Jrue Holiday, who was struggling with a left knee sprain. Holiday is averaging 10.5 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds out of the gate.

The team will hope for a better night from Holiday than he showed in his first two performances. His boost on offense could help position the New Orleans Pelicans for their first win of the season.

Not earning much of a nickname outside of his initials thus far, Brandon Ingram has a chance to gain a reputation as the New Slim Reaper. Currently, Ingram’s 27.3 points per game have him ranked as the sixth-best scorer in the league to start the season.

While Denver’s Gary Harris is starting out the season on a defensive tear, he’ll likely be tasked with a smaller coverage option than the lanky Ingram. That will make things tough for both Holiday and Lonzo Ball on the scoring side of the floor.

As fans by now know, the team will be without its scariest scorer, as Zion Williamson is about two weeks removed from right knee surgery, which looks to hold him out for about another month.

The team will also be without Derrick Favors, who missed Monday’s loss to the Golden State Warriors with right knee soreness. This means both Jahlil Okafor and Jaxson Hayes will have a healthy workload against the bigger Nuggets squad.
