With plenty going on around the New Orleans Pelicans organization at all times, February is making for an entertaining month of basketball in the

What is it about this New Orleans Pelicans team that has fans and the media buzzing? Outside of the obvious with Zion Williamson providing highlight-reel material since his long-awaited debut on January 22, it is the way this team plays. All heart and leaving everything out on the floor.

Although the Pelicans have a lot of room to make up in order to make the playoffs, it’s not out of the realm of possibility now.

Combine the team’s improved play with the selection of Brandon Ingram to the All-Star game and rookies Williamson and Nickeil Alexander-Walker in the Rising Stars game, the Pelicans are definitely on the upswing.

While Zion is a key attraction to the attention placed on the team, other players are contributing to highlight-reel material shown on the sports networks. It’s in plays like Jaxson Hayes’ putback dunk off JJ Redick’s missed 3 against Chicago on Thursday night that gets everyone talking.

How can you not love the expression on Redick’s face after that ridiculous dunk? Speaking of Redick, he had his own highlight-worthy moment on Thursday making this ridiculous shot in the first.

The best part of watching the Pelicans these days is that everyone is contributing. In Thursday’s game versus the Bulls, Zion led the way with 21 points in 25 minutes, but 12 players scored with 4 others in double digits and 3 players within a point of being in double digits. Derrick Favors had 15 rebounds and Lonzo Ball ended the game with 10 assists.

The team had a season-high 38 assists. 38! This is not a selfish team.

On top of that, the buckets were falling as they also had a season-high 56.3% shooting percentage from the field.

Although the Chicago Bulls made a bit of a run in the 4th, the Pelicans held on to notch their 21st win of the season.

Seeing the Pelicans so energized and playing so well as a team is great for the fans and the organization as a whole.
