Slam Dunk Contest: Zion Williamson

Was there even another choice for this one? I mean come on, watching Zion Williamson play basketball this season has brought one rim-rattling slam after the other.

Watching one Williamson game can probably make this seem like an obvious choice and after watching ten of his games so far, I can say that it’s really the only choice. This guy hates these rims (in Steve Martin’s voice from The Jerk).

Already setting the weekend on fire with his ferocious dunks during the Rising Stars game, All-Star Saturday could really use Williamson among their four dunkers for the night.

Think about how much fun a Zion Williamson dunk contest appearance could be for the New Orleans Pelicans’ faithful. We’d get the complete package of fun, complete with Lonzo Ball throwing his teammate and transition partner tailored lobs to help post fifty-point marks with each passing round.

Sure, we’ll get a just dandy dunk contest this All-Star Saturday from Pat Connaughton, Derrick Jones Jr., Dwight Howard, and Aaron Gordon, as all three are really great athletes who have more than enough prowess to thrill around the rim.

However, the idea of Zion Williamson getting the chance to wreck rims while traveling down through the open floor four times on national television is can’t-miss television.

Others considered: Jaxson Hayes and a construction crane with the base of a tank (which is basically just Zion Williamson).
