Shooting Guards
Holiday’s performance was very much symbolic of the team’s, as he started the game slowly before picking it up in the second half. Holiday was just 1-5 from the field in the first half and it looked like it was going to be a long night for the New Orleans Pelicans. Holiday found another gear in the second half, got to the rim at will and made good decisions with the ball, either setting up teammates for good looks or taking them himself. Holiday ended the game with 23 points, 15 assists and seven rebounds. He did add five turnovers, but most were in the first half. Holiday showed that he is one of the leaders of the young Pelicans and his play down the stretch will likely determine if the team makes the playoffs.
Josh Hart had a tough night shooting, going 3-9 for only eight points. He did hit a couple of timely 3-pointers in the first half when it looked like the Pelicans were at risk of letting the game slip away. Hart also grabbed 10 rebounds and showed some mental toughness, as he wasn’t afraid to keep taking shots even after missing a few early.
J.J. Redick may be the veteran leader of the New Orleans Pelicans, but last night he shot the ball like he’d spent the day on a boat. Redick went just 3-12 and looked like he was on wobbly legs, as several of his shots were way off target. It was an uncharacteristic shooting night for the normally accurate Redick who is currently second in the NBA in 3-point percentage.
