NBA Draft 2020 Mock Draft 1.0: The New Orleans Pelicans Can Try for Homerun
The Bulls have a glut of guards already so will likely look to bolster their front court with this pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
The Bulls are abysmal offensively, ranking 27th in the NBA, but play decent defense as the league’s 13th best defensive team.
Without a clear scorer left on the board, the Bulls might choose to double down on defense with the rim-running and shot blocking Obi Toppin.
Toppin has proven himself a versatile player and could likely see minutes at both front court positions for the Bulls alongside both Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr.
Toppin is an interesting player, as he likely lacks the size to play center, but has a high motor and the type of personality that would play well in Chicago.
He doesn’t help the Bulls poor outside shooting much, but he gives them a versatile player to go with Zach LaVine and Coby White. This draft is not going to save the Bulls and it’s easy to see them trading down if they can find a partner.
With so little wing talent and depth in this draft, Toppin may end up jumping into the top five, but if he drops this far, the Bulls would be smart to draft for talent rather than positional need.
