Mock Draft 2.0: New Orleans Pelicans Jump into Top Four
The Orlando Magic still need a point guard, with veteran D.J. Augustin getting older and Markelle Fultz preferring to play off the ball.
In a weak draft, many teams may decide to swing for the fences, looking for home runs rather than solid, low-risk picks like Cole Anthony.
Anthony is not the gifted passer or elite scoring option, but he is solid, and projects as a good floor general, and possibly as a plus defender.
Anthony can finish at the rim and is smart enough to make the right pass, making him someone who can run the pick-and-roll at the next level.
He has many of the same qualities as D.J. Augustin, which may intrigue the Magic, who would be happy if one of the top-four point guards fell this far.
The Magic could go in a lot of directions with this pick, but they have been looking for their point guard of the future for a long time and Anthony has the chops to be the guy.
With some teams stretching to find a wing or shooting guard, Cole may end up falling and being one of the best value picks in the draft.
