Mock Draft 2.0: New Orleans Pelicans Jump into Top Four
If the New York Knicks were lucky enough to jump into the number one spot to take Edwards, then they will likely go for a wing or point guard with their second pick in the first round.
With little wing talent left on the board, Tre Jones seems like an obvious choice.
Jones is far more of a manager than a scorer, but would fit in well along with R.J. Barrett.
The Knicks have struck out on point guards in recent years, and Jones represents a solid, not spectacular pick, but one who will know his role.
Jones could potentially thrive under the lights of Madison Square Garden and could develop a decent 3-point shot over time.
He is already a plus defender for his position and would help shore up the Knicks’ perimeter defense, which has struggled in recent years.
Jones is a smart, solid point guard who will manage the game, make the right plays and fits in well with the roster the Knicks currently have.
The Knicks would hope that his Duke pedigree will make Jones a steal this late in the draft.
