Mock Draft 2.0: New Orleans Pelicans Jump into Top Four
Golden State will get Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson back next season, so they are not likely to wait long to try and get back to the top of the Western Conference.
After adding Andrew Wiggins in a trade for D’Angelo Russell, the Warriors are already set at four of the five starting positions, assuming Curry, Thompson and Draymond Green are all healthy to start the season.
Obi Toppin makes a lot of sense here and could instantly start at power forward for the Warriors.
Toppin would give the Warriors a whole new “death lineup,” as he would allow Green to play the five, giving Golden State three shooters on the floor along with the explosive Toppin.
Toppin can score and run the floor, two things the Warriors would look for in a forward, but he also protects the rim, getting 1.2 blocks per game in his sophomore season.
The Warriors defense could potentially be elite again with Green, Wiggins and Toppin giving them a ton of versatility.
Toppin would give the Warriors a legit scoring threat in the paint and has the kind of “winner” DNA that the Warriors like.
The Golden State Warriors are not likely to stay at the bottom of the Western Conference for long, and Toppin would give them a chance to get right back to the top.
