New Orleans Pelicans 2020 NBA Draft Profile: Devin Vassell
With no clear holes and a ton of young talent, the New Orleans Pelicans have a lot of options when they choose in the 2020 NBA draft.
After the cancellation of March Madness, the New Orleans Pelicans aren’t going to get much opportunity for scouting.
Teams are going to have limited game film to look at, which make this year’s NBA draft even more of a crapshoot than usual.
In the best circumstances, draft picks are largely unknowns, so this draft could end up being one of the wildest in memory, with lots of teams trading down to secure picks in a more stable year.
This could give the New Orleans Pelicans the opportunity to trade up, especially if they wanted to package their pick in a blockbuster trade.
The Pelicans are in great position in this draft, as they already have plenty of young, talented players, so they don’t have to draft for need.
They hope the Lottery Gods favor them again and they jump into the top-four, but even if they choose in their current draft position, they should have a shot at a good player.
The New Orleans Pelicans are currently tied for 12th with the Sacramento Kings at the back-end of the lottery.
The 2020 NBA draft has long been projected to be weak and without a consensus superstar, it could shake out in a number of ways.
This could be one of the years where the best players fall out of the top-five, where middle of the pack draft picks become the next Giannis Antetokounmpo or Kawhi Leonard.
No one projected those two to be superstars, and both were drafted after the New Orleans Pelicans’ projected pick.
Someone is going to make the right call and get the next unheralded superstar. Could it be the New Orleans Pelicans?
Devin Vassell from Florida State is a player who should be available when the Pelicans make their pick, let’s check out his strengths, weaknesses and how he might fit with the team.
