#3: Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, Portland Trail Blazers

It seems like Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum have been on the Trail Blazers for a hundred years.

They are one of the top backcourts year after year and were finally able to turn that into team success, making the Western Conference Finals last season.

It looked like the duo from the Northwest had finally broken through, but they regressed this year after injuries took their toll.

The Trail Blazers were battling the New Orleans Pelicans for the final playoff spot, and it is possible that we’ve seen the last of this backcourt together in Portland.

If it is the end, what a run.

Lillard is still one of the top point guards in the league and near the top of the list of guys who might go off for 60 points on a given night.

He is averaging a career-high 28.9 points and 7.8 assists per game, numbers that are almost certain to land him another All-NBA selection.

If you said Lillard was the best point guard in the league it would be hard to argue against it.

CJ McCollum is no slouch himself.

Lillard’s running mate is averaging just below a career-high himself, pouring in 22.5 points and 4.3 assists, while often carrying the team in Lillard’s absence.

McCollum has shown that he can be the first scoring option on a winning team, which is why he may end up being traded at some point.

With both players on max contracts, the Trail Blazers may be stuck with them for the foreseeable future.

Regardless of whether their time together is through, Lillard and McCollum are still one of the best backcourts in the NBA.
