Though they already own a lot of exciting talent, there are a few superstars in this league that would make the New Orleans Pelicans seemingly unstoppable.

The New Orleans Pelicans are already building something special in the Cresent City but adding another piece of star talent could make the team one of the most fearsome bunches in the league.

Whatever the team does to build for the future, it needs to find pieces that compliment and fit well with Zion Williamson, who was revelatory during the first 19 games of his NBA career.

At some point, the Pelicans should be in a position to make another big splash, even if it’s a little bit further down the road when they’ve had a chance to identify what talent they want to keep in house versus what they’re willing to move in the right package.

Inactive at this year’s deadline, they didn’t give up any of the assets they’ve assembled in the mitigation of the Anthony Davis swap or the swap to send the fourth-overall pick to the Atlanta Hawks in the 2019 Draft (which netted them the picks to select Jaxson Hayes and Nickeil Alexander-Walker).

Ideally, if the Pelicans did decide to cash in their numerous chips, they would have the ability to retain their current front line of talent. This means keeping Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Jrue Holiday in the Big Easy.

There is something appealing about adding another star piece to this already exciting roster, especially if they can hold onto their current core; the only issue it creates is a financial flexibility burden down the road.

While it’ll have to be someone the New Orleans Pelicans’ front office is enamored with, adding more star talent would open the championship window wide open for this team.
