Nikola Jokić, Denver Nuggets

Just like every team in the NBA, the thought of adding Nikola Jokić to this core of New Orleans Pelicans players creates a ton of intrigue.

Appearing in 65 games for the Denver Nuggets this season, Jokić averages 20.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and shoots 52.8% from the floor on 14.9 attempts per game.

One of the most unique players in today’s league, Jokić stands 7’0, 253 pounds, which makes him both hard to miss and hard to cover.

He’s probably the best passer in the history of the center position, which makes his incredible scoring ability even more daunting.

The idea of Jokić feeding lobs to Zion Williamson is just mouthwatering. In addition, any entry pass that Jokić throws to Zion creates the potential for Jokić’s defender ditching him for the crashing Williamson, who can then throw it back out to the Joker for an open three.

Adding Jokić to the New Orleans Pelicans probably creates too much of a freak show for the league to handle; between himself, Williamson, Lonzo Ball, Jrue Holiday, Jaxson Hayes, and a still-developing Nickeil Alexander-Walker, that’s a lot of offensive talent to try to contain.

Acting as the centerpiece of the Nuggets for the time being, it’s hard to imagine Denver moving Jokić unless the organization took a sharp, downward turn, something that seems unlikely considering their young pieces like Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., and Torrey Craig.

Nevertheless, if he ever left one of the better young cores in the league for another, the idea of him playing for the New Orleans Pelicans creates a lot of championship-contending opportunities.
