What Nickeil Alexander-Walker did well for the New Orleans Pelicans

Nickeil Alexander-Walker averaged 5.1 points, two rebounds and 1.8 assists in his 41 games as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans.

He only averaged 12.2 minutes per game, which took a huge dip as the season went on and NAW started racking up DNP’s on the New Orleans Pelicans’ bench.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker had some big games for the New Orleans Pelicans early on, including a 27-point effort against the Miami Heat on November 16th and a 19-point game against the Warriors the very next night.

Alexander-Walker went 6 of 9 and 5 of 13 respectively from 3-point range in those games, and it looked like he was going to earn himself a spot in the rotation.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker can be a stat-stuffer for a shooting guard, as he has the ability to score as well as get steals and blocks on the other end.

He has the speed and handles to get into the paint and finish, which he did repeatedly in his big game versus Miami.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker also has plus-size for his position and showed some defensive chops in the little bit of run he did get with the New Orleans Pelicans.

NAW has shown intriguing upside, and it would be foolish to judge him too harshly on his rookie season when he was still trying to find a way to contribute.

If the season is truly over, Nickeil Alexander-Walker has shown enough to keep the New Orleans Pelicans excited, but he definitely needs to improve some things in the offseason if he wants to be a bigger part of the rotation.
