Owning one of the last selections in the 2020 NBA Draft, the New Orleans Pelicans can get creative with their late second-round pick.

There is a slew of interesting, off-the-radar prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft that could develop into impressive products with the New Orleans Pelicans.

With a long time still to go before the NBA Draft, many are focusing their sights on some of the big-name prospects who lottery teams are hoping they’ll have the luck to grab. However, the Pelicans are in a position to look at some of the forgotten talents in this year’s class.

Though this draft isn’t highly regarded in terms of top-end talent, there’s always going to be valuable role players throughout any class of young players.

Owning three picks in the second round, a pair of which they acquired in past trades, granting them access to selections from the Milwaukee Bucks (which could be the final pick in the draft) and Washington Wizards, the Pelicans have some chances to swing in the back half of the draft.

Like every other team in every league right now, the New Orleans Pelicans are limited in their ability to prepare for the upcoming draft by the COVID-19 pandemic, which hampers the ability for organizations to conduct in-person scouting operations.

With teams now having to focus on what they already have at their disposal in terms of game tape, they might have to pay closer attention to guys who produced in big roles during their college seasons; this could help David Griffin and Trajan Langdon find a diamond in the rough.

No matter what the New Orleans Pelicans do in the draft, it should be done with a focus on pieces that fit well around the team’s star-powered core of Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Lonzo Ball.
