Chris Webber: Power Forward, Sacramento Kings

What Zion Williamson can learn:

-Creativity with the ball (ball fakes, passing)

-Mid-Range shooting

-Defensive Positioning

Chris Webber is another one of those players who young people may not remember.

As a member of the Fab Five in Michigan, Webber and his teammates changed basketball forever. They had swagger. They wore long shorts. They were creative and fun to watch and there has never been another college team like them.

When Webber entered the league as the number one pick there hadn’t been many players with his combination of size, passing, shooting and overall defensive ability.

Webber was part of a team I’d put near the top of a “most entertaining team that never won a title” list when he played with Vlade Divac and Jason Williams aka “White Chocolate” in Sacramento.

Webber had an all-around game that included mid-range jumpers, elite and creative passing, ball fakes that would juke defenders out of their sneakers and underrated defensive positioning that led to him averaging more than a steal a game for his career.

Zion Williamson can learn a lot from Webber as they are roughly the same size (at least with shoes on) and have some similar characteristics though Zion is a better athlete and Webber had more refined skills.

Webber was another big who could initiate the offense and was particularly good at using ball fakes to get opponents out of position before driving for a dunk or passing to an open shooter or cutter.

Those Kings teams were fun to watch, largely because of Webber, whose creativity with the ball is something Zion can learn from.
