The Best Backcourt of the Decade

The 2009 NBA Lottery produced the backcourt of the decade and arguably two of the best guards of all-time. If this one were drafted again, these two would go first and second in some order.

Pick Analysis. Los Angeles Clippers. Scouting Report. Point Guard. Stephen Curry. #1. player. 77

It’s hard to believe that Stephen Curry wasn’t the first point guard taken in this draft. In fact, he wasn’t even the first or second point guard taken by Minnesota in this draft.

The Timberwolves botched this draft as much as any team could, as they drafted two point guards in Rubio and Flynn while leaving Curry on the board.

That’s right, they drafted not one but two point guards with back-to-back picks and neither of them was Curry. Well done, Wolves!

Blake Griffin originally went first in this draft and might again if the Clippers were given a second shot, but Curry is one of the most popular and marketable players in the NBA and given Griffin’s injury history, they’d probably go with Curry,

player. Scouting Report. Shooting Guard. James Harden. 211. Pick Analysis. Memphis Grizzlies. #2

No team would like to re-do this draft more than the Memphis Grizzlies, who passed on all types of talent to take Hasheem Thabeet with the second pick.

It was a move many questioned at the time and it looks even more ridiculous now. James Harden has evolved into one of the greatest scorers of all-time and though I personally find him boring to watch, there is no denying his greatness.

There’s at least no denying that he’s better than Thabeet, who was a complete bust and one of the worst picks of the last twenty years.
